Hans-Peter Jürgens: Captain and maritime painter

In this our anniversary year, we are exited to host one of the most renowned German maritime painters in the Deutsches Sielhafenmuseum. As a 15-year-old Hans-Peter Jürgens began his career as a mariner, rounding Cape Horn aboard the four-masted bark Priwall. He rose in rank to become captain and later pilot. In that time he discovered his talent as a maritime painter, inspired by the maritime tradition of his family and his own experiences at sea.
