On the occasion of the 275th anniversary of the founding of Carolinensiel the Deutsches Sielhafenmuseum opened a museum trail through the municipality and the incorporated villages of Friedrichsschleuse and Harlesiel. Information panels have been affixed to 18 historically and architecturally significant buildings and sites. Nineteen further panels have been set up to highlight broader themes of historical importance to the community and region such as dike construction, the North Sea fishery and tourism.
The museum trail begins at the museum harbour, goes through the old core of the town and along the Harle River to Friedrichsschleuse and the beach in Harlesiel. The way back to Carolinensiel leads along the so called "Golden Line". All panel texts and illustrations are printed in a 40 page booklet. The museum trail is also accessible virtually.
